In the spirit of Pro Humanitate, the Office of Service & Social Action facilitates opportunities for students to connect with the community, serve others, and explore social justice issues. These experiences are designed to develop students as they become engaged, reflective, and knowledgeable change agents in the global community.
Students volunteer weekly through various student organizations and departmental initiatives, including Campus Kitchen cooking and delivery shifts, VSC Service on Saturdays, and sustained service with our 100+ community partners. Each year, students participate in large-scale service events, including Project Pumpkin in the fall and D.E.S.K. in the spring. Wake Alternative Break offers opportunities for domestic and international service trips during fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks. In addition, we encourage all students to log their service hours and qualify for the Pro Humanitate Honor Roll.
Students interested in deepening their service experience through leadership should consider applying for Campus Kitchen Exec Board, VSC Advisory Board, WAB Student Leader, the Social Action Collaborative, and the Leadership Laureates Program. We would love to meet you and connect you with the right opportunity; stop by our office in Benson University Center!
