Service & Social Action

An Office of Campus Life & Leadership

Through a partnership with North Carolina Campus Compact, Wake Forest University hosts an Americorps*VISTA member in the Office of Service & Social Action. Each VISTA member makes a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. In return for their service, AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a modest living allowance and health benefits during their service, and have the option of receiving a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend after completing their term. About 6,500 VISTAs are placed each year in more than 1,200 projects in low-income communities around the country. Learn more about the program here.

At Wake Forest, the VISTA will promote food access, nutritional education, and support to organizations in Winston-Salem. In addition, s/he will promote the well-being initiative on campus and engage students in volunteer opportunities in the community. This person will play an integral role as part of the Service & Social Action team, and will liaison to several non-profit and local governmental organizations.

To apply, please fill out the below form by April 22, 2014. We will interview a select group of candidates on campus. Please contact Marianne Magjuka at for more information.
