This year, the Fall Break Service Trip team will travel for the 3rd consecutive year to Wake County, NC on October 10-12, 2013. The trip will focus on the issue of homelessness. Students will be hosted by families affiliated with the Grace Haven Baptist Fellowship, some of whom are alumni of Wake Forest University. After departing on Friday morning, the group will have lunch at the original Shorty’s in downtown Wake Forest. Following lunch, they will visit the Wake Forest College Birthplace & Museum and tour the Old Campus, now Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. On Saturday, the group will serve with various shelters in the Raleigh, NC shelter system. The trip will conclude with a reflection service and lunch on Sunday before the group returns to campus. This is our only trip during fall break, and it is offered free of charge to student participants. It is a great introduction to service at Wake Forest as well as a prime opportunity to experience the university’s birthplace.
There is no application for this trip; interested students should contact Brad Shugoll, University Fellow for the Division of Campus Life, at if they would like to sign up for the trip. However, space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so students serious about committing to the trip should contact Brad early in the Fall semester. There will be one large group meeting with participants and staff prior to the trip departure, but students with questions about the trip can contact Brad Shugoll or Shelley Sizemore, Assistant Director of Campus Life & Service at .
